Music

You can choose your own recorded music to be played upon entrance of the bride / partners , at the signing of the register and as an exit from the ceremony . Music and / or readings must be approved prior to your ceremony by the ceremonies team via the ceremony planner . Recorded music must be supplied by the couple and played on your own device , or arrangements for playing made prior to the ceremony with the venue . Music which has any religious connotations or is deemed inappropriate for a civil ceremony will not be permitted . Cumberland County Council are not responsible for providing or playing music .

Witnesses

You need to provide at least two witnesses over 18 years of age at your ceremony . They may be relatives , friends or colleagues who must be able to speak and understand English and also the significance of the ceremony .

Confetti

Confetti is a familiar part of any wedding , but please ask your guests not to throw confetti inside the building !

Insurance

If , for whatever reason , you need to change your plans , it could be extremely expensive . We would recommend you take out the appropriate insurance .

Parking

There is ample parking at our registry office Lady Gillfords House . Most approved venues have ample parking .

Photos

Official photographers are welcome to take photographs before and after the formal ceremony , however it is important that all ceremonies begin on time , without delays as a result of photographs being taken .
All photography , professional or otherwise , is by the permission of the presiding Ceremonies Officers and must be agreed prior to the start of the ceremony .
It is permitted to photograph the couple as they enter , during the exchange of ring ( s ) and the first kiss . Flashguns may only be used with permission .
