From trials to timings, Amy Charlotte Makeup Artist answers your questions about having your makeup done for your wedding day
I’ ve seen some makeup looks I love on Instagram – will you be able to recreate them?
It is great to come to me with some inspiration on how you would like to look. We can certainly look at those images together; decide which elements you love about those looks and recreate a look that will suit you perfectly as an individual. Enhancing your natural features is key.
What does a trial involve, and do I need one?
I always recommend a bridal makeup trial, usually around four months before your wedding. This is a fun and relaxed session where we’ ll chat about your vision, explore looks that make you feel amazing, and perfect your bridal makeup.
How much will it cost me to have my trial and wedding day makeup done?
It’ s different for every makeup artist, but my 2026 prices are: Trial: £ 95 Bridal Makeup( on the day): £ 135 Bridal Party Makeup: £ 69 per person Mileage is calculated separately.
How long do I need to allow for my makeup to be done on my wedding day?
Everything on your wedding morning should feel smooth and effortless. I always allow one hour per person for their makeup. Having your makeup done should be a relaxing experience not just a tick box exercise. I also allow extra time at the end to finesse your look and top up lipstick if needed.
My mum and my bridesmaids want their makeup done too – how much time will they need?
Again, I allow one hour per person. This duration might not always be required but having buffer time is great to allow for toilet breaks, sips of champers, a few tears of happiness and great conversation. This day is an experience and should be enjoyed by everyone who sits in the makeup chair.
Do I need to buy any products to top up my makeup during the wedding?
I always recommend that you buy a lipstick for your bag. It is nice to be able to top up your lip colour after drinking and eating, ensuring it looks fresh throughout the day.
