Industrial Emissions Directive (IED)
______________________________________________________________
•
On the EU level industrial emissions are covered by the
IED Directive
•
IED replaced the Integrated Pollution Prevention and
Control Directive (IPPC) as of January 2014
•
IED controls emissions into air, water and soil
•
Applies to industrial activities with a major pollution
potential such as production and processing of metals,
chemical industry including production of organic and
inorganic chemicals
•
All Eastern European EU Member States have transposed
IED into their national laws but Poland.
•
In regards to Non-EU Eastern European countries:
•
•
Serbia transposed IPPC Directive but it is not
implemented in practice
Ukraine does not have an integrated permits system.
Permits are issued separately for air, water and soil.
