LETTERS
10 years ago , we arrived at the Trust . We were greeted by Aaron , who asked us questions on what sort of dog we were looking for and gave us a folder to look at . As soon as we saw him it was love at first sight . Aaron arranged for us to see Basil in the enclosed space at the centre , we were able to take him off the lead , the pair of us had tears in our eyes , we had found our new dog .
We found out that Basil had had two previous owners , and that he had been a rejected farm dog , he had only lived outside . We opened our vehicle and straight in he went , he was so quiet on the way home that we had to stop to make sure he was OK , he was just sitting there , thinking where am I going ?
From the moment Basil came into our lives , when he was 3 and 1 / 2 , he fitted in perfectly . He loves his comfort , he has his own sofa , chair and bench to sleep on . He is so funny , with the things
he does , loves his toys , especially bunny and sloth , he loves his food and especially loves routine , if you forget to do something , he lets you know . He loves smooching in bushes , chasing the ducks and geese in the local fountain .
He hates the noise of any vehicle that rattles , fireworks and hides when the lawn mower and vacuum are on . He definitely loves his holidays to Wales , he knows when we are packing the vehicle that we are off on holiday , as soon as he sees the beach and water he ' s in , then he chases the seagulls .
Basil has had some teeth removed , pancreatitis and his spleen removed and as you are aware Basil had is back right leg amputated due to cancer in the knee last January , the diagnosis was not good but he is still loving life and still enjoying his walks and adventures . Every day he gives us pleasure .
Thank you Border Collie Trust for letting us take Basil into our lives , we love him to the moon and back . Love Karen , Richard and Basil
We adopted Alfie on 13 September 2023 .
He has developed into a very loving , cheeky and playful boy . He loves to play with all his toys and going for walks to the local parks . He will be camping with us later on in the year by the seaside .
We feel very lucky to have him . Thank you for the wonderful job you do .
