he Boys & Girls Clubs of Venice honors Capital
Group for its longstanding dedication and commit-
ment to the youth and families in which we serve.
Capital Group’s philanthropic culture began with its
founder Jonathan Bell Lovelace, and later his son Jon
Lovelace. Over the years, the organization has pro-
vided grants to our Club as well as to Boys & Girls
Clubs of America. Associates from Capital Group have
volunteered their time and energy to support our mission.
Capital Group’s approach to charitable giving celebrates the passion of associates. The organization supports those ef-
forts with additional philanthropic giving in the form of
Matching, Dollars for Doers Gifts, Nonprofit Grants and
Community Action Days. Each year, associates support more
than 3,000 nonprofit organizations. In turn, Capital Group
and The Capital Group Companies Charitable Foundation
enhances that support with additional funding in the form of
grants and matching gifts. During the past 10 years, the organ-
ization has contributed $240 million to charitable organiza-
tions around the world, and it’s all because of its associates.

“If not me, then who? If not
now, then when? These ques-
tions motivate my philan-
thropic efforts. Giving back
and making a difference in
someone’s life is mutually
beneficial. As I enrich a life, I
become enriched and moti-
vated to continue volunteer-
ing. As the child of both the
BGCV first executive director
and the director of the coun-
selling department, I grew up
in the Club and was taught
the importance of helping
others. While mentoring as a
youth and now serving on the
Club’s Board of Directors, I
am aware of the impact that I
have made on individuals and
the community. Thanks to the
Capital Group in partnering
with BGCV and supporting
my efforts.”

“Being philanthropic has al-
ways been important to me, it
gives me all the ‘feel good’
moments knowing that you
are making a difference and
helping those that are in need.
Why Boys & Girls Clubs of
Venice? I believe the Club
does great work in providing
guidance for at-risk youth in
the community.”
“I believe we each have a deep
responsibility to serve. It can't
be optional. The more of us
who commit to serving others,
the better the world will be.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of
Venice transforms kid's lives in
our community by creating
opportunity and hope through
education, guidance and love.
I can think of no better way
to strengthen and support my
community than by support-
ing this Club.”

“ Philanthropy is impor tant be-
cause it reminds us to look
outward, to rise our society by
lifting others, and to be kind
and helpful to one another-
particularly during this volatile,
divided time for us all.
I support BGCV because
they provide our youth with
safe space to dream fearlessly
and positive role models that
encourage their ambitions. In
an iPad-world, where kids are
growing up much too fast,
BGCV fosters an environment
that values their free spirits
and champions their passions.
BGCV is amazing organiza-
tion that makes a difference
on a community level- right
in your backyard. I’m hum-
bled to be a part of it. Thank
you BGCV!”

not change the world, but it
could change the world for
one person.’”
