Welcome to the third-annual EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival !
The year is 1998 , and you ' ll notice some big differences in the fest . Foodies had just 29 days to taste it all , and there was no Eat to the Beat concert series ( that wouldn ’ t start until 2002 ). But this celebration still packed star power . Celebrity chefs , including Julia Child and Bobby Flay , were part of an extensive daily schedule of 45-minute culinary demonstrations at the Odyssey Pavilion . Other notable names include Tom Colicchio , whom you may recognize from America ' s Top Chef , and Rick Bayless , the chef behind Disney Springs ' Frontera Cocina , one of our favorite restaurants at WDW .
There were just 22 food and beverage booths , which boasted $ 1.00 to $ 3.00 fare . In addition to eats , these booths presented 15-minute demonstrations four times a day . In the 31-page festival guide picture here ( not passport !), instead of finding a menu list of all of the booth offerings , you ’ d find a veritable yearbook photo listing of all the master chefs and sommeliers visiting the fest , along with their schedule of appearances .
