THEN : Magic Kingdom , 1977-1991 , 1999-2001 , 2010-2016
NOW : Tokyo Disneyland , as Tokyo Disneyland Electrical Parade : DreamLights
Just saying the words “ Main Street Electrical Parade ” evokes the instantly recognizable and catchy earworm of Baroque Hoedown , and it doesn ’ t really feel right to be at Magic Kingdom after dark without the twinkling lights of this beloved nighttime parade . You might get your fix by looking outside the entrance onto Seven Seas Lagoon to catch a glimpse of the Electrical Water Pageant , but for the full experience , you ’ ll need to hop on an international flight .
( the only one still in operation today ). It ’ s been refurbished into a thoroughly “ plussed ” version combining the nostalgia and charm of the original with millions of LED lights , illuminated costume upgrades , and more in an elaborate tribute . The parade features more than 20 floats , including the Blue Fairy ; Mickey ’ s Dreamlights Train ; Alice in Wonderland ; Pete ’ s Dragon ; Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs ; Peter Pan ; Aladdin ; Tangled ; Toy Story 3 ; Cars 2 ; Finding Nemo ; Monster ’ s , Inc .; Cinderella ; Tinkerbell ; and a spectacular Small World finale .
Disney originally created three versions of the parade : one for Disneyland , one for WDW and Disneyland Paris , and one for Tokyo Disneyland
This nighttime parade is deeply missed , and we keep our fingers crossed that it will return one day to WDW . PHOTO BY BRETT SVENSON
