simple but powerful and highlights the quality of the meat and the cooking . We weren ’ t really in the mood for more fries and , at the server ’ s recommendation , swapped the fries for some lovely grilled asparagus , which was the perfect side to this dish . There was some talk of ordering another round of sliders , but we had our sights set on dessert .
WATCH OUT FOR THAT ICEBERG The Boathouse menu has lots of desserts to enjoy — classics like Key Lime Pie and Strawberry Shortcake , along with floats and sorbets and other delectable treats . But there is a signature , truly show-stopping dessert you must try : The S ’ mores Baked Alaska . This mountainous iceberg of a dessert looks large enough to sink a small boat and has to be seen to be believed . The menu claims that this 16-inch-tall behemoth dessert serves four , but I bet it could feed six or more depending on your appetite . The dish itself is a graham cracker crust loaded with rocky road ice cream , topped with meringue , festooned with marshmallows , dotted with Hershey ’ s chocolate squares , then blowtorched to a perfect golden brown . Ordering this dessert is guaranteed to cause a commotion in your section of the restaurant .
This dessert is not always available ; it takes the kitchen a long time to prepare and requires the dish to be frozen between the various stages of assembly . The S ’ mores Baked Alaska wasn ’ t listed on the menu during our most recent visit , but we asked the server , and they did have one available in the kitchen . Each S ’ mores Baked Alaska that the kitchen makes gets cut into four servings for guests . Our waiter was quick to announce to anyone in earshot that now there were only three servings left if any other tables felt like ordering one as well . All of this is to say that if you have your heart set on ordering this dessert extravaganza , I recommend giving the restaurant a call a day or two in advance just to confirm . It ’ s not just visual appeal ; the dessert tastes great too ! If you like the smell of a campfire , then this dessert will be perfect for the whole table .
If you ’ re looking for fresh flavors and beautiful waterside dining , then The Boathouse is a surefire hit . The rich and detailed nautical theming , well-rounded surf-and-turf menu , and optional water cruises make The Boathouse a real destination for food , fun , and entertainment at Disney Springs .
