WDW Magazine December 2014 - Crowds at WDW | Page 36

The Perils Of FastPass+ Photo by Eric Weber By Joe Black During my last trip, I finally experienced the new FP+ system, and the lessons learned were many. In fact, FP+ had a very negative impact on my entire vacation experience. While I realize the goal is to save time, that isn’t always the case, which I will now explain. My end game while at Disney World has always been to avoid crowds at all costs. This means making our park decision either the night before or the morning of our visit each day. I also found the crowd predictors to be inaccurate, as they change frequently as the check-in date approaches. As I made our FP+ 60 days out, we were now "locked in," which meant I followed a hunch made 60 days ago instead of the ways I've learned over the years. While I realize I could’ve easily just cancelled the Fast Passes, I felt obligated to at least attempt to play by the new rules.
