But the biggest difference between the two attractions is in the addition of Disney
characters to the scenes at Disneyland. A few years ago, 37 dolls in the It’s a Small
World style were added to the attraction. Characters from Alice in Wonderland and
Peter Pan are in England; Cinderella and her mice are in France; Pinocchio and Jiminy
Cricket are in Italy; characters from Mulan and Aladdin are in China and the Middle East
respectively; Lion King characters are found in Africa and the Three Caballeros are in
Latin America; the South Pacific features characters from The Little Mermaid, Finding
Nemo, and Lilo and Stich; and North America features Toy Story pals. It’s a fantastic
addition that really adds to the Disney experience of the ride and I hope it comes to
WDW in the future!
One of Walt’s most beloved attractions is still popular today, 50 years after its creation,
with people of all ages and ethnicities. After all this time it’s still reminding us to
embrace peace, because it’s a small, small world.
