WDW Magazine April 2016 - Disney's Hollywood Studios | Page 22

But, Dad, but Dad, what about all the closures they’ve already made? Huh? Well, let’s just look at those. The Animation area has already been turned into the Launch Bay! That’s a big positive. It may be in the wrong place but the Launch Bay is something kind of special. The movie is really good, the displays are fun and having a place to meet Chewy is outstanding! I do hope they move it over to the Star Wars area once it starts opening up. One Man’s Dream is still open. Shoot, Indiana Jones is still open and Disney announced that was closing 2 years ago. The hat is gone, yeah. The only real closure so far is the Backlot Tour and that’s been closed for a while. So, let’s talk about what’s still going to be left open in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Mmmm, let’s see, there’s Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, Tower of Terror, Toy Story Mania, Star Tours (updated), The Jedi Training Academy, Disney Jr. Live on Stage, The Voyage of the Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, The Great Movie Ride, MuppetVision 3D, Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular, Frozen Sing Along, Star Wars the Path of the Jedi (cool movie), Fantasmic!, and Club Disney Dance Floor. PS. The new Star Wars fireworks show is incredible. It may be (and I’m a Wishes lover) the best fireworks show that Disney does. Even Mrs. Mom, who’s not a big fan of fireworks, liked it a lot. Believe me, for most people that’s still a pretty full day and it includes 4 of the best rides on the PLANET. Really, are you going to skip Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, Tower of Terror, Toy Story Mania and Star Tours? What are you, crazy? Come on you silly people talking about skipping DHS during the construction, are you planning on skipping Animal Kingdom? (There’s less to do there.) Are you planning on skipping Epcot during the Soarin’ expansion? (There’s less to do in Epcot too.) Yes, Disney should have done a better job in timing the closings, and in their construction plans. They should have done the Toy Story expansion 3 or 4 or 10 years ago. But let’s get real. Disney’s Hollywood Studios is not going to be that bad. It’s not any worse now than it was before Toy Story Mania opened. The Bottom Line is, rumors of the death of Disney’s Hollywood Studios are greatly exaggerated. Now is a great time to visit Disney’s Hollywood Studios. A lot of people are going to read all the negative Nancy’s and skip it. That just means smaller crowds for us smart people. 2016 is going to be a great year to visit WDW and make a bee linePhoto to DHS. Trust me. courtesy of Kathleen Logan Wolfe
