The Hammersmith Academy (HA) is now starting its ninth year and the second set of students all the way from Year 7 to Year 13 have just received excellent GCSE and A Level Results. This time HA is celebrating its strongest set of GCSE and A level results so far, with the following highlights: • 74% of GCSE students achieved 9-4 grades, (historically A* - C), • 88% of GCSE English students, which is considered the hardest subject, achieved 9-4 grades, Last year HA had one student accepted at Oxford and this year two students have been accepted by Oxbridge colleges. Both students getting A* in all three subjects, one going to Mansfield College, Oxford to read Geography and the other to Trinity Hall, Cambridge to read History & Politics. We are happy to announce that WCIT Liveryman Seatal Patel is going to be a WCIT nominated HA Governor, meaning there is now a strong quartet of WCIT members on the governing body - including our other nominated governors; Past Master Nicholas Birtles, Liveryman Dharshini Allirajah and Liveryman JP Rangaswami. LBTS students recently celebrated their A, AS, GCSE and BTEC results. Most Year 11s will be staying at LBTS and have enrolled in LBTS6 whilst others will be starting a wide range of exciting courses in local colleges including engineering, health and social care and performing arts. Year 12s will be with LBTS for another year as they enter Year 13 to finish their A levels and BTECs ,whilst the Year 13s have now finally left after a large number of farewell parties, a Prom and now their results. Students will be going off to study a huge range of courses in universities across the UK from maths to business and from English to Computing, whilst others are taking a gap year or starting an apprenticeship. LBTS wishes them all the best and reminded them that 'the harder you work, the luckier you get!' Our sponsor governor, Liveryman Richard Pone said, “Despite headwinds such as school funding formulas, and the transition to new grading and GCSEs, our relationship with LBTS goes from strength to strength. Inspiring dinners with the 6th formers, the growing use of new laptops, and various on and off premise STEM related events are just some of the impactful ways we engaged over the past year.” This summer Richard was also recognised with a special award from the Mayor of Lambeth for services to school governance. We continue to work with LBTS leadership to ensure we deliver the greatest value, aligned to their aim of transforming the life chances of all their students.
