has come and gone and another fantastic year has been achieved and history has been made.

The school continues to produce fine outstanding young men and women who leave under the key aims of our GRADUATE PROFILE and living the values of Te WERO.

We are really proud of these Year 13 Graduates, knowing that they will confidently make their mark in society as contributors, and being proud of who they are and where they are from. I would like to congratulate our Dux for 2018, Paytyn Cornor. Paytyn, since Y9 set a goal of becoming Dux. Through hard work and application to her studies that dream has come true. Paytyn not only fulfills our Graduate Profile, but lives and breaths the school motto, “Superanda, Omnia, Ferendo”, “Ma te mahi ka Tipu” “All is overcome by working Hard” On behalf of the staff and BOT I want to wish Paytyn and all of our leavers the very best for your futures.

To our strong and supportive staff I want to thank you for your work this year. We have all faced the many challenges the job throws at us and I am very proud of the adjustments you have all had to make as we embark on the “New Learning” pedagogical changes. As I have mentioned in public forums your knowledge

and close monitoring of the student is the key to success. I am in awe of the work that you all do and I am so proud to work alongside you all. Have a restful holiday with friends and whanau. Nga mihi nunui kia koutou katoa.

To our Whanau, our parents and caregivers. Thank you very much for your continuing support of our staff and school. You are the key link in ensuring that we all work towards fulfilling the aims of the Graduate Profile. We need your voice around the table with us and your tamariki/mokopuna, so future aspirations and goals are set. Our achievement rates continue to rise because of this aspect, and we need to continue this key relationship. On behalf of the staff, and the BOT, I want to extend our best wishes for a happy and safe Christmas and a prosperous new year.

I want to leave you all with a quote that a kaumatua, whanaunga of mine used to say at our school prize giving that best sums up the journey that we as a school community are on.

“Good, better, best. Never let it rest.

Until your good is better and your better is best”
