Whitley Bay Cricket Club – Player Handbook 2014 CLUB CHARTER The purpose of Whitley Bay Cricket Club is to provide a balance of challenging, competitive and social cricket. This balance will be appropriate to the club’s range of membership, junior through to seniors, and provided within a friendly and supportive club environment. The club will actively promote the England Cricket Board’s strategies, including Equity and Equal opportunities (ethnicity, disability and gender), in cricket. The Club will endeavour to: 1) Provide playing, practice and social facilities to the highest possible specification in the light of available resources. 2) Develop, attract and retain players through a culture of commitment to success and continual striving for improvement 3) Compete at the highest standard possible at each level within the club 4) Maintain an effective organisational structure, including committees, that will best promote the interests of its members 5) Establish a positive profile within the local community and a reputation for competitive play, good facilities and sportsmanship amongst its opponents at all levels 6) Create and promote a sense of club and team identity through good communication 7) Maintain cordial and open relationships with appropriate governing bodies and other relevant agencies 8) Extend a welcome to those in the Whitley Bay area who wish to participate in cricket and related activities 9) Ensure that all team selection and associated processes are undertaken in a timely, fair and transparent way 10) Support, where appropriate, those of its members that may wish to develop skills, such as coaching, that promote the club’s goals Officers of the Club will: 1) Take a lead and set an example in the pursuit of the club’s goals and associated ideals 2) Actively promote and reinforce the standards expected of members outlined above.
