A SCHOLARSHIP
LAUNCHES A FUTURE
Most graduating high school
seniors express gratitude
towards their parents and
teachers for advancing their
academic careers. But
Wayne Hills High School
graduate GILLIAN
BROGNA had another
mentor to thank. Along with
Nutley High School grad Ava
Miller, Brogna was one of
the first recipients of the
Michael Reilley Scholarship,
which commits $3,000
towards the further education of each student. The award is
named in honor of the Rutgers University alum who, though
paralyzed and wheelchair-bound, was a longtime ITT Corp.
employee and stockbroker. Brogna, who is now juggling a
couple jobs to raise the rest of her college funds, says that
she is “ever so grateful for my life, for Michael’s life, and for
the committee for choosing me.”

POKE IS A-OKAY
With the Willowbrook Mall’s All-American ambiance, you might not expect
to find the injection of exoticism that is POKE N’ RAMEN 360 , a recent
addition to the mall’s food court (it’s located
near the front). Menu items include ramen,
udon noodle dishes and, of course, bowls and
wraps of the Hawaiian raw fish salad known as
poke. Most dishes cost $7.99, making them
affordable pick-me-ups for hungry shoppers.

ENOCH POOR
OCTOBER
11
NOON
The Wayne Public Library’s
LUNCHBOX LEARNING lecture will be delivered at noon
in the Meeting Room. Break bread and feed your mind at
the same time as writer and history buff Richard Burnon will
talk about Enoch Poor, a brigadier general in the Continental
Army of the American Revolution. Many believe that Poor
was shot in a duel near Hackensack, where he is buried.
