Wayne Wayne A SCHOLARSHIP LAUNCHES A FUTURE Most graduating high school seniors express gratitude towards their parents and teachers for advancing their academic careers. But Wayne Hills High School graduate GILLIAN BROGNA had another mentor to thank. Along with Nutley High School grad Ava Miller, Brogna was one of the first recipients of the Michael Reilley Scholarship, which commits $3,000 towards the further education of each student. The award is named in honor of the Rutgers University alum who, though paralyzed and wheelchair-bound, was a longtime ITT Corp. employee and stockbroker. Brogna, who is now juggling a couple jobs to raise the rest of her college funds, says that she is “ever so grateful for my life, for Michael’s life, and for the committee for choosing me.” CAFFEINE AND CULTURE The place to sip and be seen in Little Falls recently opened a sister shop in Wayne. THE FINE GRIND specializes not only in coffee and related swag — gift baskets, T-shirts, mugs — but in hosting special events such as tastings, open mic nights and author readings.
