LOCAL STUDENTS AWARDED
DANCE HONOR
Two students in Passaic County Technical
Institute’s School of Performing Arts,
MALCOLM YOUNG and NICOLE WICH,
were selected by NJPAC to receive a
Governor’s Award for Excellence in Dance
this year. On May 22, at the Governor’s
Arts Awards Ceremony in Trenton, the two
accepted their honors and performed for the
gathered. The GOVERNOR’S AWARDS IN
ARTS EDUCATION initiative began in 1980
with the goal of promoting awareness and
appreciation of the arts. Each year, roughly 20
educators and 100 students are recognized
with awards.

through the Irish countryside, has been
awarded The Guardian’s “Not the Booker”
Prize. It has also been named runner-up for
the SI Leeds Literary Prize; been shortlisted
for the Emma Humphreys Memorial Prize
and the Pat Kavanagh Prize, and nominated
for the Edgar Award as Best First Novel. Li,
the valedictorian of the 1996 graduating class
at Wayne Valley High School, is currently a
doctoral researcher in the London School
of Economics’ Department of Media and
Communications, where she is studying the
impact of social media on the public debate
surrounding rape and sexual assault.

FAIRY TALES THEME PARK PLANS TO REOPEN
If you become wistful remembering how you used to visit the FAIRY
TALE FOREST of your youth, or wish you could give your kids the same
experience, your wish is granted: The theme park that brought famous
bedtime stories to life is itself being revived, says owner Christine Vander
Ploeg, granddaughter of Forest creator and German immigrant Paul Woehle.
The cozy roadside theme park is known for featuring life-size gingerbread
houses, small cottages des
