Senior Citizens Christmas Party
HIGHLIGHTS
On Friday, December 7th, the Town of Waxhaw hosted their annual Senior Citizens Christmas Party at
Waxhaw Bible Church. This special holiday event for citizens ages 55 and older takes place each winter
to honor older residents and the impact they’ve made on the community.
One of the traditions of this event is that, upon arrival, each attendee receives a raffle ticket. Throughout
the day, prizes such as spa treatments, cozy blankets, gift baskets, and more are raffled off as prizes to
the lucky winners.
Additionally, the Mayor of Waxhaw recognizes citizens celebrating birthdays the day of the event. This
year was special because Mayor Steve Maher recognized Ethel Carpenter on her 80th birthday this year.
She was presented with a special sash and tiara.
The afternoon featured performances from local musicians, as well as some classic artists like Elvis
Presley! Every year this event draws up to 300 participants, and each year they delight in gathering as a
community to celebrate life, friendship, and the holiday season.
