Last but not least was the final rock
race. This included lapping the dirt
short course with all of the whoops and
jumps, transitioning to the rock crawling course where the competitors had to
complete 3 of the major obstacles once
during the 5 lap race. Strategy was key
here. Take the non-obstacle laps early
and take a big lead, or get the obstacles out of the way and then flash the
last two rounds to the checkered flag?
The classes were set up the same as the
rock crawl with UTV, Stock, Legend,
and Unlimited. Everyone was evenly
matched up, although most of the stock
rigs decided that rock racing wasn’t in
their cards.
Finally when everything was said and
done, the fat lady had sang her song,
and the trophies were lined out on the
table. The awards ceremony recognized
the top three places for each rock crawling class, top three places for the rock
race, and then the top three places over
all. There were also big shout outs to all
of the volunteers that organized, set up,
and orchestrated the event. As well as to
the sponsors of the event: Maxxis tires,
