longer to be adopted and here
are some of them: black dogs and
cats do not always photograph well.
In pictures, their facial features can be
unclear. Many people choose their pets from
photographs on adoption sites instead of meeting
them first. Most of us give more thought to the make/
model/size/color of a new washer and dryer than some
people give to an animal they are going to bring home to be part
of their families! Many books and movies portray black dogsespecially big ones-as ferocious or vicious or threatening. Black
cats are associated with superstition and bad luck. When people
go to shelters to find a pet, a black dog or cat may be passed
over because they look “generic,” or just like every other black
dog or cat.
If you or someone you know is soon to be in the market for
adopting a pet, try this interesting test at home first. Go to the
grocery store and quickly purchase several red apples without
looking at them carefully. Just grab a bunch and take them
home (after paying for them, of course)! One at a time, look at
each apple. You will notice that no two apples look exactly alike
although at first glance in the store, there appeared to be very
little difference at all. Another
way you can do this experiment is
to get a group of people together and
have each one take one apple from a bunch.
Have them study the apple they chose and then
have everyone put their apple back. Mix them up
and have each person pick his/her apple from the bunch.
There is something unique about each red apple; that’s the
point. Please give as much thought and attention to choosing a
pet-and check out the black ones first. You may choose another
one but you at least have given them a chance they deserve.
Did you know that in.......
Great Britain, black cats are seen as lucky and are often given
in token form to brides and for the single British women, it is
believed that having a black cat will bring along many suitors
Scotland, a strange black cat’s arrival to the home signifies
prosperity.
Celtic mythology, a fairy known as the Cat Sìth takes the form
of a black cat.
Japan - Black cats are considered good luck in Japan.
