We can beat poverty
in order to combat the awful effects of poverty, there are many government based programs that were designed to give all Americans the chance of a better life.
Supplemental Security Income: a federal government benefit program which provides cash to meet basic needs for food, clothing, and shelter to the severely disabled.
Medicare: Aids the elderly and disabled, those who are unable to work.
Medicaid- Medicaid program provides medical benefits to low income people who have no medical insurance.
Food Stamps supplies low income families with benefits to purchase food.
