Montgomery car show is Sunday

By LAURA FITZGERALD lfitz @ tcnewspapers . com

Montgomery is holding its fifth annual car show on Sept . 23 , providing a boost to the town ’ s businesses and a fun day out on the town for spectators and car enthusiasts .

Car show committee member Herb Lorenz said Montgomery ’ s car show is unique because of the atmosphere the town provides . Instead of just parking cars in a parking lot , as many shows do , this show gives participants the opportunity to walk around the village and visit its businesses .
Each entrant will receive a $ 10 gift certificate to one of the businesses in Montgomery for a $ 20 entrance fee . The village expects between 100 and 125 vehicles . This idea puts money back into the town ’ s businesses .
“ Before the show begins we ’ ve already invested $ 1,000 worth of gift certificates into the village ,” car show committee member Brian Fitzpatrick said .
There will be eight best in show awards , a modest amount for most car shows . Fitzpatrick said this is to cut event costs and put the focus of the show on the village . The event will also include live music and raffles .
“ The focus is really on the atmosphere we create and really giving back to the small businesses ,” Fitzpatrick said .
Proceeds from the event will go to Montgomery ’ s Drug Abuse Resistance Education ( DARE ) program .
“ So what we ’ re trying to do is hopefully give them seed money to be able to purchase whatever they need ,” Schultzel said .
Fitzpatrick said the event routinely raises between $ 500 and $ 600 for the charities it has benefited .
Car show committee member Bob Schultzel said the event also brings people in from out of town , giving the village exposure .
The Pine Busch School Board passed a motion to deposit $ 7.5 million into the capital reserve fund from the available fund balance .
That money can only be used for capital projects , Pine Bush Superintendent Tim Mains said . An approximately $ 77 million capital project that would focus on deferred maintenance in all buildings is currently
A 1937 Caddie at last year ’ s show .
“[ It ] brings people in that may not otherwise come in to see what we have to offer and perhaps bring some future business to our local businesses ,” Schultzel said .
The show was started in 2014 . The first year , Fitzpatrick and his friend , Paul Teutul , approached Lorenz and said they wanted to put together a car show .
When Lorenz asked when , they replied in two and a half weeks , a very short time for a large event . The pair managed to coordinate the show and held the event on
before the board .
If voters pass the capital project , the $ 7.5 million will be used for that project . If they don ’ t , the money will be used for a future capital project .
“ We think its important to demonstrate to the voters up front that we ’ re making a significant investment ,” Mains said .
The board can continue to put money its allotted date .
“ It was certainly the fastest event that I know was turned around that was successful ,” Lorenz said .
The event isn ’ t only for car enthusiasts ; families also enjoy the event as a nice Sunday outing , Fitzpatrick said .
“ It ’ s gonna be a great day ,” Fitzpatrick said .
The show will be from 10 - 3 on Clinton Street in Montgomery . To register , call ( 845 ) 457-9661 or email events @ villageofmontgomery . org .

Pine Bush authorizes money for capital reserve fund

into the capital reserve fund over the life of the project .
The board is expected to vote on a resolution to authorize the capital project for a public vote at the next regularly scheduled board meeting on Sept . 26 at Circleville Middle School . The project is then expected to undergo a public vote in December .
