The good news at a recent Crawford
Town
Board
meeting
included
announcements that taxes are stable;
car accidents are down, and plans for
community enhancement projects are
afoot. Town Supervisor Charles Carnes
said the town budget will be below the
tax cap for the fifth consecutive year. The
average tax increase for a home valued at
$250,000 will be $27.69, and that increase
will be counterbalanced by state tax
credit reimbursements that result from
a tax increase below the cap, Carnes said.
Meanwhile, water and sewer tax rates
will decrease.
The budget includes funding for
improvements to Pine Bush Town Park,
including a new walking trail, playing
field, and rest room facilities. Upgrades
to the new Senior and Community Center
are also planned.
Meanwhile, Crawford Police Chief
Dominick Blasko says that car accident

statistics indicate that a three-pronged
approach to traffic enforcement is getting
results. In past years, accident numbers
steadily ranged between 220 and 230 from
January 1 to October 31. Last year, the
number was 204, including 50 personal
injury accidents. But this year there
were 169 accidents, and only 34 injury
accidents.
