The budget also includes a $500 salary increase for the
village justice, to a total of $12,446.26, a 1.5 percent wage
increase for village employees, and a raise of $2,002.40 for
the mayor to bring his annual salary to $13,000.
“He is way below what he should be compensated,”
said Trustee Barnett.
Barnett said the mayor spends many hours working
for the village and the increase was to compensate him
and make his pay more equitable to the salary paid to
other local mayors.
“That’s fair for a mayor who gives so much to the village,” said Trustee Barnett.
Trustee Pritchard added that the raise for the mayor
was a unanimous and independent move by the board—
the mayor abstained.
The current Maybrook village tax rate is $12.27 for
residents in the town of Montgomery. The new rate will
be $12.63, which is an increase of $0.36 or 2.9 percent.
For a home with an assessed value of $150,000, a resident
would see an increase of $54 in his tax bill.
For those village residents with homes in
Hamptonburgh, the current rate is $8.68, which will be
increased to $9.10. Residents would see an increase of $63
for a home with an assessed value of $150,000.
