Ex Walden mayor to chair
Mount Saint Mary Board
Charles Frank, an IBM executive and
former Walden mayor, has been elected
chair of the Board of Trustees of Mount
Saint Mary College.
Frank has served on the Mount’s
Board of Trustees since 2012. He has
also served as the Chair of the Board’s
Finance Committee for the same period
of time, and was elected as Vice Chair of
the Board in 2014. He succeeds Dr. Albert
J. Gruner, who served as the Chair since
2012.
“I am very excited to set a course for
the Board of Trustees governed by our
collective commitment to the Mount, our
heritage of strong Catholic Dominican
educational values and our high standards
of academic rigor,” said Frank. “We will
also resolve to ensure a consistent and
transparent level of communication with
everyone who cares for this College.”
“I’m so deeply committed to the valuable
education provided to the students of the
Mount because I was not able to take
advantage of these same opportunities
growing up,” said Frank. “In fact, my
family is ‘all in’ at the Mount. My wife is
an administrator, two of our daughters
have graduated from here and our third is
starting her freshman year.”
Frank is a seasoned business executive
with more than 35 years of experience
in the information technology industry,
with most of that time with IBM, and
a great deal of his efforts focused on
Higher Education. He currently holds
the position of Solutions and Business
Development Leader within IBM’s Global
Alliances organization. In addition to his
extensive business development, sales and
IT experience, he has dedicated much of
his life to community service. Frank has
served as President and Vice President
of the Josephine-Louise Public Library
in Walden, on the boards of the Walden
