Walden Beach opens www . HometownBankHV . com

The beach at James W . Olley Community Park in Walden is now open for the public .
There are picnic tables , a pavilion , children ’ s playgrounds , walking trails and fishing allowed around the beach . Paddleboats are also available for rent by the half-hour . The beach has an on duty lifeguard as well .
Starting in July , the park will be also holding its summer recreation program for the town ’ s children of ages 5-15 . In August , there will be a 6k race at the park as well .
By Monday afternoon , there were people already taking advantage of the fishing opportunities as well as the beauty of the walking trail . The beach is open from noon to 6 p . m . every day . Daily rates for residents are $ 3 for an adult and $ 2 for a child . The individual season pass is $ 35 and the family season pass is $ 50 .

Pine Bush honors Odyssey winners and scholar athletes

During the Pine Bush Board of Education meeting on June 14 , the school district commended their own Scholar Athletes and Odyssey of the Mind participants .
All three Odyssey of the Mind teams from the PB Elementary School , Crispell Middle School and PB High went to the state championships . The elementary team surpassed states and went on to the world finals in Iowa , placing 17th .
The athletic department then recognized all 350 fall , winter and spring scholar athletes . They called their names as they shook hands with the PB Board of Education and were given certificates and pins afterwards . Eight of their teams were Section IX champs or had an individual that was . The school had nine NYS Qualifying teams , three of which became champions . Varsity girls Volley Ball were Division I Champs NYS Finalists . While Varsity Boys Indoor Track and boys Track Field had individuals who became NYS Qualifying Champs .
Pine Bush Scholar Athlete Christopher Biondi had a great year in cross-country and track and field . Biondi became an OCIAA champion , Section IX champion , a NYS Qualifying Champion all three seasons as well as a Federation Champion in the fall . Biondi is a graduating senior and will be attending and competing for Stony Brook University in the fall .
One student in particular , Pasqualina Tartaglione , was praised for her great success as being the only girl on the boys and girls varsity golf team .
Tartaglione ’ s father and coach , Mike Tartaglione , shared his daughter ’ s accomplishments this past year . Tartaglione is a Section IX Champion as well as NYS Qualifier . The rising high school junior also had a score of 77 on her first day at the NYS Championships , not only breaking a school record but a NYS Public High School Athletic Association record . Tartaglione and her father thanked the board and the school for helping her accomplish so much in one year .
