The former Little Sisters of the Assumption Convent in Walden has been acquired by Chapel Field Christian Academy .

A new era for Chapel Field Christian Schools lies ahead as it becomes a boarding school . Chapel Field has recently purchased The Little Sisters of The Assumption Convent at 100 Gladstone Ave located on the highest point in the Village of Walden .

The sinks in Montgomery have already been repaired and are safe to use , and Xanthis expected the refurbishments at East Coldenham to be completed before the end of the school year . BOCES is returning to the schools on June 22 to test the water fountains . The Montgomery sinks were not used by students for drinking water . The affected fountains were found to have 16.5 parts per billion of lead , which is in a perilous zone , according to United States Environmental Protection Agency and state standards . Xanthis notes that the district is being cautious and will fix all of the East Coldenham fountains , even those that were cleared during the inspection . “ We ’ re actually shutting down the other ones to repair the other fountains that didn ’ t show any signs of lead ,” he said . “ I think the EPA is 20 but the state is 15 , so the one in East Coldenham was 16.5 . So it was under the EPA , but a little bit over the 15 . But once we knew , as soon as we got the report , we shut it down right away . We ’ ll replace those parts and they ’ ll be re-tested certainly , and when the numbers are right , we ’ ll put them back online .”
