Montgomery
approves two
subdivisions
By RACHEL COLEMAN
It was approval at long last for a
couple subdivisions in Montgomery on
Monday, including one project stalled on
the drawing board for about seven years.
The plans for Brick Church Meadows
Section II, a 15-lot clustered residential
subdivision on Route 17K, date back to
2009. It was a discrepancy in those plans
on Monday night that nearly derailed the
anticipated approval of the project.
The problem was a sheet that showed
a barn with an indoor arena, as opposed
to the agreed upon six stall barn that the
board remembered. Given the long period
of time that had elapsed since the project
had been discussed, both sides struggled
to remember earlier discussions.
“If it’s going to be part of the plan
set, I don’t know how we can ignore the
depiction,” said Planning Board attorney
Richard Hoyt.
“We can figure this out,” assured
Dawn Kalisky, the applicant’s engineer.
After some discussion, the board
voted to grant the project conditional
final approval, which is dependent on
a number of items including additional
discussion by the Planning Board on the
matter of the barn.
The Planning Board accepted a road
bond in the amount of $472,760.
The second project, known as
Lanspery Family, LLC, was also granted
conditional final approval.
Located on Bailey Road, the
subdivision originally called for 11 lots,
but was cut back after a determination

A brand new Department of Public
Works building is officially slated
for construction this year at Bradley
Park in Walden after the village board
unanimously approved a $999,500 bond
resolution to fund the project at the
council’s meeting on June 7. The planned
13,000-square-foot facility will be built
at the site of the current department
headquarters, and is expected to be
completed by November. The existing
facility dates back to 1949, and the village
administration believed it was time to
replace the antiquated space.
The new facility will house DPW trucks,
plows and backhoes as well as Water and
