Montgomery concert series resumes
The Montgomery Bandstand will host Thursday night concerts through September 1 .

The Village of Montgomery Bandstand on Clinton Street is the place to be on Thursday nights in July and August , with live music filling the air .
The 2016 Summer concert series kicked off last Thursday with the country sounds of the River ’ s Edge Band . This week ’ s concert features classic rock and roll from Midnight Image . Shows are every

The village encourages residents to bring their “ lawn chairs and dancing shoes ” to join them for the summer nights of free music .

Village of Montgomery revises master plan |
Building upon the 1965 and 2008 comprehensive plans , the Village of Montgomery has created their 2016 Master Plan to guide the village ’ s growth for the next 5 to 10 years .
The board of Trustees has made a few adjustments to the master plan and they will be presenting them at a meeting later this month . The board will be having the special meeting on July 21 at 6 p . m . in the Village Hall .
Stated in the comprehensive plan , which can be found on the village ’ s website , is the Planning Committee ’ s vision statement .
“ In our Vision for the Village of Montgomery in the future , our community character is preserved , civic pride sustained and quality of life enhanced ,” is stated within the comprehensive plan .
Since noticing the need for changes in the 2008 plan , they decided in 2014 to create a new one to adjust to the village ’ s needs and integrity . In that year they met with the Planit Main Street , Inc . to work with the Village Board-appointed Comprehensive Plan Review Committee . They since have created the plan that includes the improvements of living as the population grows .
The plan includes chapters for the Population & Housing , Natural Resources , Transportation , Cultural , Recreational & Historic Resources , Community Facilities ,
Downtown Revitalization and Economic Development and Land Use & Zoning . Some of the plans include energy conservation and the conservation of the land , which includes the wetlands and trees . This is will be followed especially by the limiting of where to build new homes . They also want to avoid possible issues in the future that may cause damage to these homes if placed in these certain areas . The board also wants to implant appropriate street lamps around town and identify other routes for trucks to take in order to avoid the small streets of the village .
