Several community members were
recognized for their leadership and
service to the community at the Walden
Leadership Conference last Thursday.
Kristie Hall, a local volunteer
firefighter, received the Midge Norman
Volunteer of the Year award for her
service with the Walden Fire Department
and as an organizer for the annual Walden
St. Baldrick’s event.
Walden Mayor Susan Rumbold
introduced Hall, commending her for her
tireless effort coordinating the annual
event that raises money for childhood
cancer research.
“Coordinating the food, entertainment,
set-up, clean-up and the volunteers for
this event is no easy task, but it is done
with dedication and with compassion for
those children and their families who deal
with cancer every day,” Rumbold said.
Hall first joined the Walden Fire
Department as a member of the Ladies’
Auxiliary.
“That wasn’t good enough. Through
