Crawford approves solar moratorium
By JANE ANDERSON
The Town of Crawford is taking a small step back in
the solar-energy trend to set its sights on the future.

Montgomery
once again
The Town Board last Thursday agreed to a short moratorium – Supervisor Charles Carnes said it could last as
little as 90 days – on construction, installation, approval
and process of applications for solar energy systems. The
moratorium won’t affect rooftop-mounted solar panels,

will once again hum in the village of
Montgomery, as the Village Board last
Tuesday agreed to change zoning to allow

a resolution to accept funding this year
from the county’s STOP DWI initiative.
The program provides money to local
municipalities to crack down on driving
under the influence.
The funding, which will cover the
period from March 14, 2016 until Jan. 1,
2017, will allow Walden to authorize overtime for police officers to set up periodic
sobriety roadblocks in the village. “It’s a
program where officers actually go out
and put up traffic stops,” Walden Mayor
Susan Rumbold said. “They’re looking
for drivers that are impaired, and that
supposedly helps cut down on drunk driving or having drivers out there who are
impaired.” The village received $500 from
