Wallkill saying farewell to library director

Mary Lou Carolan is leaving Wallkill
Library to take the helm in Cornwall, and
she’s taking this mantra with her:
“We’re not your grandmother’s library
anymore.”
Carolan began her tenure at the
library in a humble way, she said in a
recent interview, as she held out a photo
of a giant costumed Clifford the Big Red
Dog. “Yes, that’s me,” she said with a
laugh. “I started out volunteering at the
library, and that was my first gig.”
