The bridge was originally damaged during Hurricane Sandy in the fall of 2012, and has been shuttered ever since. At the Walden Village Board meeting on Aug. Humane Society elects new president 21, the administration voiced its displeasure about the town’s lack of action in repairing the local bridge. No plan has been put in place over the last six years to bring the bridge back into service, and village residents and officials are getting restless waiting for the repairs to begin. “We had assumed that the town had applied for funding to fix it, but then we discovered that they had not,” Walden Mayor Susan Rumbold said. “So we’ve been asking them for a period of time to repair it. Buckley said she wants to continue programs and grow existing programs that connect the shelter with the community, especially outreach programs that cater to children, veterans and seniors. “It’s really an on-going process... It’s really multi-faceted. We’d really like to connect with the community,” Buckley said. For instance, a program called Paws to Read allows children to read books in the cat room.
