The Town of Crawford Summer Recreation had a visit from Santa Claus in his summer attire last week .

While on his vacation he decided to visit the campers of this summer camp and hand out leis to the children . Mr . Claus hung out with the children for a few hours as they did arts and crafts , kickball , and various other activities . He quizzed the children on the names of his reindeer and answered all their questions .

Santa ( Steve Decker ) has been portraying Santa Claus since 2006 . He retired from the Post Office after 37 years as a letter carrier in 2011 . He has been married to his wife for 32 years and has two daughters , along with a golden retriever . Decker has many certifications as one of Orange County ’ s Premier Santa Clauses , but is the official Santa for the Community Country Christmas Parade and Wonder , Simplicity and Beauty in Portraits , both in Pine Bush .

The Gardiner Library summer session of story times will be ending on Thursday August 11 . There will be a hiatus for several weeks and story times will resume the week of September 19 . Bouncing Babies story time with laptime stories , songs and fingerplays will resume Tuesdays from 9:30 to 9:50 a . m . beginning September 20 . It is geared for birth to 24 months old .

Terrific Twos and Threes will also begin that day and take place on Tuesdays from 10 to 10:45 a . m .. It features books , action rhymes , music , and crafts . Fantastic Fours and Fives returns to its fall / winter time of 1:30 p . m . on Thursdays and will start up Thursday September 22 . Children hear stories , explore books and create

related crafts .

“ The national economy is weak ,” Oliva states on his campaign website . “ Over 94 million Americans are out of work , incomes have been stagnant for years and 49 percent of recent college graduates are underemployed or unemployed . The New York State economy lags even the national averages .”

Oliva states he co-authored an economic plan that “ focused heavily on cutting taxes and regulations ,” infrastructure , supporting hi-tech start-ups and modernizing the workforce during Astorino ’ s gubernatorial bid .

Oliva also wants to increase security of the country ’ s borders . “ I understand why people want to come to America but I don ’ t understand why we can ’ t secure our borders ,” Oliva said , adding “ Barack Obama and many congressional Democrats have blocked attempts to secure the border .”

Santa ( Steve Decker ) visited with children from the Town of Crawford Summer Recreation Program last week .

Maloney , who has served two terms in U . S . House of Representatives , maintains an office in the City of Newburgh . Maloney has sponsored legislation supporting farmers , veterans and prevention of heroin addiction and abuse in the Hudson Valley , among other legislation .

His top priorities include improving the health and financial security of seniors , creating jobs and economic opportunity , and investing in infrastructure , Maloney states . He recently helped secure $ 6.8 million in funding for improvements at Orange County Airport and $ 2 million for Head Start of Eastern Orange County .

Maloney , who served as a senior adviser to President Bill Clinton , has been proactive in the effort to investigate the City of Newburgh water crisis . He currently serves on the House Agriculture Committee and the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee .
