Jolly Be Good and Victoria Kalosis , He ’ s Off The Wall and Dickie Gardner , Starlette ’ s Debutante and B . J . Richards , Fendi and B . J . Richards , Fancy ’ s Watching You and Dickie Gardner ! WOW ! Decisions-decisions . Who will be riding what ? Who will scratch as their trainer choose another entry ? Street talk ramps up and the excitement builds as the owners and trainers want to give it their best shot at that $ 50,000 ! FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS up for grabs you better be doing your best walking when you hit that ring !
Friday night starting time has been moved to 5 to give the working folks time to get off and arrive at the International in time to see THE MAIDEN ! FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS on the line---here they come ! Horses are announced in numerical order to enter the ring---you better be walking you absolute best when you enter solo style as all eyes will be watching---one by one the horses stroll into the ring . The first numbers are making their own show in the far end as they have begun to circle together so as not to bunch up in a knot on the rail as 30 horses in a ring is huge ! That is the one thing I objected too about the Maiden as my eyes just couldn ’ t take in all those great entries at once . The last entry strolls thru the gate and here we go ! What an absolute awesome display of two year old walking horse talent . Unbelievable to have that many great young horses in one class---guess that bait of $ 50,000 brought em out .
When the walking was over the winners were in this order :
1 ) Imagine Dragons , Hannah Myatt up for the Jordan Howell family
2 ) Quesadilla , Joe Lester up for Kimberly
& Perry Walden 3 ) Sweet Walking , Laurie Toone up for Margo Urad 4 ) Shady And Black , David Mast up for Harris /
Woodard 5 ) She ’ s Venomous , Krysta Allen up for Kelly Querrey The Maiden entries competed for a $ 50.000 + jackpot comprised of entry fees and other monies via sponsorships . The jackpot will pay 100 % with 50 % going to the
owner ( s ) and 50 % to the trainer for each placing horse . WHOA extends a heartfelt thanks to each of these sponsors for making THE MAIDEN such an thrilling event .
