During the 1930s, women began challenge records that were set by men. Amelia Earhart flew solo across the Atlantic Ocean on the five year anniversary of Charles Lindbergh and in 1933 Frances Perkins became the first women to hold a Presidential Cabinet position. Their simple clothing allowed them to work comfortably in many situations and conditions.
