We left the ship and hopped on a courtesy bus that we assumed would go straight or somewhere near the train station. That was too much to wish for. The cruise ship arranged a bus transfer from the ship to end of the pier for another bus to take us to the train station. After speaking my somewhat-non-coherent form of Italian, we found out it comes every 30 minutes and 10 euros per person. We decided to hoof it and we made it to the train station in 15 minutes. We were pretty happy to get one of the early trains there that only took about 40 minutes to arrive close to the vatican.
Again, priority number one for the wifey.
