SHOP
When traveling, shopping for authentic local items is almost always a must. But with shelves stocked with imported souvenirs, how do you know what’ s truly Alaskan, or even Sitka-made? Luckily, Alaska has programs that make it easy: look for the blue Made in Alaska Bear, the green-yellow-blue Alaska Grown logo, or the black-andwhite Silver Hand emblem that identifies work handmade by Native artists. In Sitka, you’ ll find plenty of shops carrying locally made goods worth taking home.
ISLAND ARTISTS GALLERY COOPERATIVE
A cooperative of 24 local artists, featuring jewelry, prints, paintings, Native artwork, quilts, stained glass, and more. Artists work together to staff the gallery, so you can meet the makers behind the work.
