The idea was born during a fireside chat between owners Katia, Steve, and Ragnes: what if there was a one-stop shop for souvenirs that were accessible, authentic, and truly Alaskan? Today, you can browse walls lined with waterproof stickers, screen-printed apparel, mugs, and magnets, each carrying the creativity of Alaska’ s art community.
Alaskan Designed operates year-round, and shopping here means supporting the lives and work of artists who call Alaska home. Every design they carry was drawn by current residents of the state or Alaska Native artists, from local favorites to statewide collaborators like Southeast artist Allie High and the Sitka Conservation Society. They even printed the Pioneer Bar t-shirts and stickers, a partnership resulting in swag that locals and visitors alike purchase.
When visiting Sitka, why not purchase a stainless steel water bottle from Work & Rugged Gear Store and adorn it with your favorite Alaska-made stickers? While perusing the walls searching for the perfect sticker, you’ ll likely find Katia at the counter( and maybe even see Ragnes screen-printing shirts in the back), proof that Alaska Designed is doing its part to keep Sitka’ s small-town spirit alive.
