MEET THE RAPTORS
The Alaska Raptor Center introduces you to resident eagles, hawks, falcons, and owls. The center rehabilitates hundreds of injured birds each year, and close-up encounters offer a lasting impression. Sitka’ s mix of accessibility, cultural experiences, and hands-on learning makes it a destination for every generation.
Visit the Alaska Raptor Center in Sitka to see eagles and other birds of prey up close, learn how injured birds are rehabilitated, and take a short walk through the surrounding rainforest trail.
PLAY AND DISCOVER
Along the Sea Walk, you’ ll find the community playground, Sitka’ s first inclusive, ADAcompliant playground. Its theme,“ Where the Forest Meets the Sea,” features a troller boat, octopus climber, lighthouse slides, and a tree fort structure, all reflecting Southeast Alaska’ s landscape and maritime heritage.
Right next door is the Sitka Sound Science Center, a small aquarium and hatchery with touch tanks that delight visitors of all ages. Gently run your fingers across sea stars, anemones, hermit crabs, and other creatures from local waters, while learning how the hatchery raises pink and chum salmon that support the region’ s fisheries.
