A DESTINATION AT ANY AGE

Family-Friendly Sitka

From the moment you arrive, Sitka feels welcoming. This small island town blends laid-back charm with surprising accessibility, making it easy for visitors of all ages to experience its attractions. Whether you’ re pushing a stroller, traveling with teens, or exploring on your own, Sitka makes it simple to connect with both culture and nature. You may be surprised by just how effortless it is to get around in a place this remote.
START WITH THE BIG SCREEN
Downtown, stop by Harrigan Centennial Hall for a screening of Sitka’ s Hidden Wonders. This 40-minute film, created by National Geographic filmmaker Ben Hamilton, takes you on a journey through Sitka’ s changing seasons and into the corners of our region less visited. With immersive visuals and sound in a comfortable, fully ADA-compliant space, it’ s an easy option for families, especially on a rainy day.
STROLL THE SEA WALK
After the show, step outside for a walk along Sitka’ s scenic Sea Walk, an accessible paved waterfront path that runs from Crescent Harbor to Sitka National Historical Park. Lined with greenery, interpretive signs, and benches, it’ s an easy way to take in views while making your way toward the park, and on clear days, you’ ll spot Mt. Edgecumbe rising in the distance from the Sea Walk viewing platform.
