IMVU Name: Angelskiss2007 Real Profession: Web Developer and Administrator Tell us a little about what you do for work in rl I work for a major hardware company at their corporate office in Chicago, IL. In my role, I manage all of our communication channels for our corporate office (about 1500 people), warehouses (over 4,000 people), vendors/suppliers (over 4,500 companies), and our retail stores (over 5,000 stores with over 70,000 associates). I make sure that everyone has access to things like the latest news and resources to make sure they can do their jobs. How has the global pandemic affected your job? When news of the virus started to make its way to us (in late January), action began then, as many products that consumers need are made in China. Factories had begun seeing disruptions and closures, and international travel began stopping. By March though, things really kicked into gear across the organization. Everyone was working diligently to react to what was happening abroad and in the US, emergency orders that were going into effect in each state, and more. And my job was to make sure all of this was made available, accessible, and easy to view and understand for everyone. We had to come up with new ways on the spot to change huge in-person events to be digital, transform meetings as all our corporate workers were now working from home, and ensuring that those who couldn't work from home (our warehouse workers and our store associates who were serving their communities) had all the resources they needed to be as safe as possible. So for my job, that meant a lot of quick innovation, many extra hours, and tons of information interpretation. 30
