If I were able to offload some tasks , what would I want to accomplish instead ? Make a list of all your tasks and then highlight the ones that could potentially be accomplished by another person . Then , identify a current person on your team or in your life who could potentially take these tasks . Dream about how these few spare moments could allow you to accomplish other tasks .
Why did I want to become a dentist ? Why did I want to become a practice owner ? Take a trip down memory lane and reflect on what drew you to the dental field in the first place . Then , reflect on your reasons for owning a practice .
If all constraints were removed , how would I describe my ideal practice ? Fast forward ten years and think through every aspect of your ideal practice . How many employees do you have ? What procedures fill your day ? Have fun dreaming about the possibilities .
Once this reflection time is complete , draw conclusions on what might be causing dissatisfaction , frustration , or fatigue . Then , draw conclusions on what brings the greatest peace and joy . This exercise leads to a better understanding of purpose , passion , and fulfillment . Every new year brings an opportunity for goal setting , but goals made without purpose in mind can sway the practice in a direction the practice owner never intended . However , goals with a strong “ why ” behind them have the potential to set the practice owner and the practice on a path of exciting fulfillment . Now , it is time to set some goals for 2022 !
Bethany Petty is a practice management consultant that breaks the mold . In an effort to remove herself from the abrasive consultant persona , Bethany spent time receiving Masters degrees in Adult Education and in Health Communication , which enables her to present information in a way that dentists and team members understand and appreciate . Her unique approach customizes her suggestions and training to fit the personality and goals of the practice . Rather than approaching each practice with the same “ Fix-It Guide ,” she evaluates the practice , talks with team members , and listens to the dentist before making any suggestions . Bethany has a legacy of dental professionals in her family , and she has had the privilege of helping her father to build , manage , and maintain a successful family practice . With the heart to serve dentists , she has made a difference in practices all over the DFW Metroplex . For more information , visit www . hellobethany . com .
