I live in a peripheral neighborhood where there are many women like me. We are oppressed and silenced every day. We suffer domestic violence, violence against our properties, the few things we have. And my life, my life consists of making these women victorious, just as I have become. I don’ t have money, but my victory was turning my fight for my body’ s health into a triumph. And that is what I want for all these women.
They have so much to say to us. Just as I do too. We just need space. We have no space, we have no jobs, we have nothing. This year, I am going to fight for a place in Brazilian politics. Whether it will happen, I don’ t know, but I will try. For me, for them, for us- Black Brazilian women.

When morning comes, I say their names out loud. And when the sun sets and I lay down, I whisper their names,
Akosua, Adwoa, Abena, Akua, Yaa, Afia, Ama those who did not survive the day.
