Name: Melissa Orozco Class: 2013 University: Loyola University Chicago Major: Psychology
How would you describe your college experience? The best way to describe my college experience is a whirlwind. I was able to do amazing things like studying abroad in Rome for an entire semester and conducting my own research and meeting wonderful people along the way. Living in Chicago was definitely the best part of my college experience. There is always something going on, always something new to see and experience.
What was the hardest thing / class / experience for you? The hardest part was getting acquainted to a new city and new surroundings.
Were you part of any clubs? I was in the executive board for Habitat for Humanity LUC and a member of the Latin American Student Organization at Loyola.
Did you study abroad? I studied abroad in Rome for a semester.
What will you do next? I will continue working on research on campus for the summer and will take a year off before applying to PhD programs in social psychology.
What is your favorite college memory? The morning after my first snow storm in Chicago. I had never seen so much snow! Students organized a massive snowball fight in the quad and my friends and I played in the snow all morning.
What tips would you give to a VMCHS graduating Senior who is about to embark in their college journey? Enjoy every second of it! It goes by so fast. Stop every now and then to notice how far you have made it and how much you have grown. They will truly become some of the best years of your life, have fun with it!
Anything else you would like to mention: Congratulations to the VMCHS class of 2013!
