3 . Recognizing that the changes to the Latin course occurred in 2022 , and it is now 2024 , what has the Cambridge Schools Latin Project done since then to further depict the diversity of the Roman world ?
The whole exercise I have described is ongoing . Writing the rest-of-world edition , which became the basis for the North American edition , actually began in 2020 . The UK has Books 1 and 2 published and in use . North American Units 1 and 2 publish this year . The third and fourth books for both territories are either in production , being written or are in planning stages . We won ’ t be finished with this task for another year or so yet !
4 . Did you feel you had a certain responsibility to take forth in this initiative , considering you are able to dictate the quality of Latin education for high schoolers across the world ?
It ’ s certainly true that being Director of CSCP brings with it a great deal of responsibility . People trust us to produce high quality resources with a focus on accessibility , but they also look to CSCP to advocate for Classics education more widely . I take these responsibilities seriously and view myself as a custodian of the CLC and its legacy . I also feel obligated to ensure that role is undertaken with a clear sense of values ; for example , by manifesting a commitment to inclusive teaching and learning .
