Scylla and Charybdis
Scylla (left) and Charybdis (right) are featured in the Odyssey. Also located near the Clashing Rocks, the two guard an alternate path through the Bosphorus Strait.
Medusa
Medusa was a Gorgon--a monster with snakes for hair. Her gaze could turn others to stone.
Monsters in the Golden Fleece
Spartoi
Once in Colchis, Medea, the daughter of King Aeetes, aided him to defeat the last two monsters. The Spartoi were an army of undead warriors born from sown dragon teeth. To get rid of them, Jason threw a rock into their midst, causing them to attack each other.
The Colchian Dragon
The final task in Jason's quest was to overcome the dragon that guarded the tree the Fleece rested upon. Once again, Medea aided him by giving him a potion that put the dragon to sleep, thus letting Jason steal the Fleece successfully.
