Salve, reader!

I'm so glad to have you here, reading the 2020

VJCL Fall Forum! No matter how hectic things have

gotten around us, it truly does mean a lot to me that you're still taking the time to read this edition of the VJCL's publication. Certainly a lot has happened since the Spring Forum was released (National Classics Week, the formation

of the equity committee, the 2020 NJCL Convention, etc.),

and I am thrilled to present you with this newest edition that will cover all of the amazing things VJCLers have been up to!

My goal for this edition of the Forum was to create a publication that would be fun and enjoyable to read while still being informative and engaging for the reader. To achieve all of these things, I decided to increase the size of this edition by doubling the amount of pages in order to include as many fun elements, student articles, creative writing pieces, and other awesome additions as I possibly could. I hope you find things that captivate you in this edition, whether it be the buzzfeed quiz, National Convention highlights, officer and student articles, or winning creative writing contest entries. All of the featured writers in this edition worked tremendously hard on their articles, and I highly recommend you read all of the amazing pieces they produced. The students whose creative writing pieces were featured in this edition as well were able to create spectacular work that was awarded first place in their respective NJCL writing contest for their grade level. You should definitely check those pages out as well!

Within these 40 pages, I hope you're able to find something that makes you smile. No matter what your passion within JCL is, my goal was to create something with an element for everyone. I wanted to incorporate as many voices, stories, and successes of the VJCLers as I could in this last edition.

The community of the VJCL is still so incredibly strong, despite all of the challenges we faced this year. We have adapted in so many ways, yet we stayed true to the heart and soul of the VJCL that keeps us all coming back year after year.

i hope this edition of the Virginia Junior Classical League's publication serves as a reminder to the love we have for this organization we all cherish so greatly.
