“In 2006, not long after I became a Vitalise Vice President, I popped over to Jubilee Lodge to see for myself what Vitalise does on a daily basis. I went out with a big group of guests and volunteers on a day trip to London. Carers go through so many negative emotions sometimes, when they hand over a loved one to someone else's care, so they can get some respite for themselves. I know this because I'm a carer myself, for my Mum, who has dementia. I remember thinking to myself, 'if the carers of this group of people could see the fun they're having, they wouldn't feel bad at all.' My abiding memory of that day was of a big group of people having a whole lot of fun. Everyone was happy, everyone was laughing. As a carer, you couldn't ask for better than that."
