Thousands of people across the world have experienced God ’ s love because of Through the Roof ’ s ministry in the past 25 years . Strengthened local churches in the UK and developing countries have welcomed disabled people to be part of God ’ s family . Our international mission trips and virtual support have brought freedom , providing appropriate mobility equipment for over 600 disabled people a year . Our accessible Christian holidays , retreats , and groups have provided fellowship for hundreds of guests and members . Thank you for your support in changing so many lives .
This autumn we want to celebrate the privilege of being involved in God ’ s work and His goodness and faithfulness towards us . We invite you to join with us in any or all of these activities – we ’ d love for you to be a part of it .
As part of the celebrations , we ’ d like to encourage you all to celebrate a Disability Awareness Sunday in your own church . Lots of churches will be aiming for Sunday 18th September , but if you ’ ve got other commitments , any other day is fine ! We will provide you with free resource materials to raise awareness of disability in your church , as well as lots of suggestions for what to do in the service , and some video clips and media to use . There are details of how to join in later on in this issue .
We ’ re also delighted to welcome Kris Foster , the UK ’ s first minister with Down ’ s syndrome to speak at our Service of Thanksgiving on Saturday 8th October . Kris , a graduate of Spurgeon ’ s College , will bring a message of hope and encouragement through sharing his own testimony , and we ’ re excited to have him along . Join us for this special time of thanksgiving from 2.00pm at St George ’ s Christian Centre , Barnett Wood Lane , Ashtead KT21 2DA as we acknowledge all that God has done through the charity over 25 years and re-dedicate the work to God . The event will also feature disabled presenters , a time of live worship , prayer and video testimonies , including a special message from Joni . You can meet staff , volunteers and supporters over refreshments after the service and find out the very latest news from our international mission trips ; holidays and retreats ; and roof-breaking disability inclusion ministry . Later in the year , on Saturday 19th November , we ’ re holding a ‘ Global Online Celebration ’. Join with others from across the UK and around the world as we gather to connect and encourage each other and be inspired by people ’ s testimonies as to how lives have been changed through the love of Jesus .
