Day 2: Water and Wildlife
MORNING
Head over to Bumble Expeditions ' Misfit Island Cafe for some breakfast before starting your wildlife boat tour. Be sure to book in advance or work with the team at Bumble Expeditions for same day tour bookings.
Snap photos of humpback whales, orcas, and sea otters while taking in the majestic marine environment around Sitka.
LUNCH
After hopping off the boat, grab a bite to eat at Highliner Coffee Co. Their salmon spread bagel is a local favorite, along with daily soup specials and sandwiches.
Visit the Alaska Raptor Rehabilitation Center to learn about different birds of prey native to Southeast Alaska. You might even get to see a live demonstration with a snowy owl or bald eagle.
AFTERNOON
Take a short drive to Fortress of the Bear, soaking in the amazing views along the way. Fortress of the Bear is a sanctuary that offers the opportunity to see rescued bears up close in a natural setting.
On your way back to town, stop at Whale Park. If you’ re lucky, you might see some whales from the park’ s viewing platforms!
DINNER
End your evening at Cold Water Bar & Grill, enjoying locally caught fish and chips with views of the harbor.

MORNING
Start the day with breakfast at Mean Queen— their crab eggs benedict and local bagels with lox are always a hit. Out the windows, you’ ll see views of Sitka Sound and Noow Tlien( Baranof Castle Hill), once a Tlingít site where Alaska was officially transferred from Russia to the United States.
Check out the Visitor Information Center and ask about showtimes for the New Archangel Dancers and Alaska Storytellers.
Stop in at the Russian American Company before visiting St. Michael’ s Russian Orthodox Cathedral. This iconic structure is a landmark in Sitka’ s downtown, with intricate religious artifacts and a striking architectural presence.
Take a short walk to the Russian Bishop’ s House, where you can learn about Russian history in Sitka.
LUNCH
Grab a slice at Pizza Express before you make your way to the New Archangel Dancers or Alaska
Storytellers show, where you learn more about Sitka and Alaska’ s history through dance and movement.
DINNER
End your day with fresh Italian dishes and steaks at Mangiare Italian Restaurant. It’ s the perfect spot to relax with a glass of wine and people-watch over Sitka’ s downtown bustling hub. Enjoy views of the Sitka Pioneer’ s Home gardens during the spring or summer months, or take in all of the Christmas lights and decorations over the holidays.
